After School Program

Legend Acres After School Riding Lesson Program sessions give horse loving boys and girls the opportunity to spend plenty of time with these wonderful animals. Students are divided into groups, based on their ability, to provide riders with activities appropriate to their skill levels. In addition, students take part in the daily grooming, tacking up and care of the horse or pony assigned to them. Students also participate in activities that promote good horsemanship as well as arts and crafts ,and snacks included.

Goals are to help participants learn Horsemanship and horse care in a fun, safe environment. Also gives participants a positive character building activity that's challenging and rewarding.
They will learn horse grooming, basic barn chores, riding skills.

Participants ride in a group but will also have some one on one attention to ensure they really understand everything as they progress.​​

The Program will run for 5 weeks meeting on Wednesdays. The cost of the program what includes snacks is $150 per child. All Ages are welcome. Legend Acres is a bus stop for the Stewart County School System.

Legend Acres is seeking volunteers to help with this program and any Pre-Teen or Teen that volunteers is eligible for a scholarship for the Program.​​​​​

​Legend Acres Schooling Show

Legend Acres Schooling Show is open to all lesson students that have participated in the Legend Acres Riding Lesson and After-school Program. All ages are welcome and Legend Acres is providing the tack and instructors.

The show will begin at 9am and run to noon on December 8th! Family and Friends are invited to show support for your riders and the hard work they put in over the past year. It is a day to celebrate the students!!!

Fourth​​​​​​​ Annual ​Winter Day Camp

Parents want to have some time to get your holidays plans together and have a fun place for your kids to go? Legend Acres will be hosing a Winter Break Day Camp on 19 December from 12 pm-4 pm (arrangements can be made to ride the School Bus to Legend Acres) and December 19-21 from 8 am-2 pm. Cost is $45 per day or $120 for all 3 days (paid in full at time of reservation) includes lunch, craft, horse back riding, and applications in horsemanship. Dress warm and in layers we will be going in to warm up on breaks but will be outside and in the barn most of the day. Helmets are provided!

Summer Day Camps​​


Legend Acres summer camp sessions give horse loving boys and girls the opportunity to spend plenty of time with these wonderful animals. Campers are divided into groups, based on their ability, to provide riders with activities appropriate to their skill levels. In addition, campers take part in the daily grooming, tacking up and care of the horse or pony assigned to them. Campers also participate in activities that promote good horsemanship as well as arts and crafts , snacks and lunch included.  A Mini Horse show will be conducted on the last day of camp.

We offer three summer camp programs, based on age.

he first program is our Kiddie Camp, which is a wonderful experience for children ages 4-7. The camp runs for three consecutive days from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and is $275.00 for the week. Deposits can be paid online at http://bit.ly/2ro3Ur9

Youth Camp, for ages 8 -11 runs for three consecutive days from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm and is $275.00 per week. Deposits and Early Registration Discounts available online at http://bit.ly/2KHs9sb

Legend Acres is seeking volunteers to help with this program and any Teen that volunteers is eligible for a scholarship for Camp $75 per camp.  Parent Volunteers will receive a $75 scholarship.  Stewart County High School Students needing Community Service Hours for TN Achieves : Legend Acres has you covered! After Care is available up to 6 pm for an additional $20 per week.

​​​​​​​Legend Acres is a unique country retreat with over 500 Acres of woodlands for trail riding.  Learn horsemanship in a safe comfortable environment​​ for any age and experience level from experienced and caring instructors.  Legend Acres will teach more than just basic riding skills, learn about horse care, horse anatomy, tack, and much more.  Legend Acres goal is to create responsible well educated horse enthusiasts that are well versed in horsemanship while building confidence in students as well as creating a bond with animals and the outdoors.


Riders must be dressed appropriately for safe riding.  Long Pants and heeled riding boots are necessary for safety, no tennis shoes or sandals.   Riders may not mount if they do not have safe footwear. ASTM/SEI certified helmets are required if under 18.  Legend Acres has helmets available for use but it is recommend that you provide your own if scheduling lessons on a regular basis.  Helmets are available at your local Feed Store.  Bring a change of clothes for activities and crafts, no sandals as we will still be working with horses and in the barn area.

Meet the Instructor:  Kristi May is not only the Owner of Legend Acres but the Riding Instructor.  Kristi has over 25 years riding experience and over 8 years of Instructor experience and is a CHA Certified Riding Lesson Instructor.  Kristi rides Dressage,Hunt Seat, Bareback, Saddle Seat, Western Pleasure, Western Equitation, Over Fences, Gymkhana including Barrel Racing, and has over 10 years show experience. Kristi was a 4-H Handi-rider Volunteer for over 4 years, and 4 years equestrian team.  Kristi is pictured here on Rebel her Rocky Mountain Spotted Horse accompanied by her Golden Retriever Legend.
